Wind.
Waves.
Wonder.

Come aboard and join us for a true sailing adventure where you can expect to push your limits, enhance your skills, and have one hell of a time – safely and professionally.

Why Sail With Us?

In short, a learning adventure unlike any other. And a way to run up your sea miles, gain experience, and have a helluva time. Sailing out beyond sight of land in deep water means pushing into some of the last, truly free places on planet Earth. And as such, we’ll make sure you are fully prepared to take advantage of every minute of it.

Renew Your Sense of Adventure

Deep water is where radical self-reliance is one of the few constants, and it provides you a feeling of incredible liberty and freedom rarely seen in our regular routines on land. Mark Twain said it best, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

Develop Hands-On Sailing Skills

Onboard, you’ll have endless opportunities to put sailing theory into practice. All crew members are expected to take part in everything that keeps the boat operating smoothly including route planning, meal preparation, weather routing, boat handling, engine maintenance, satellite communications, safety procedures, and more.

Gain Experience Safely & Securely

We are committed to providing our guests with a safe and secure passage. To that end, we have the latest in safety equipment, liferaft, and satellite electronics. And with robust, hard-won risk assessment framework and safety procedures in place, all challenges are handled by the book to minimize risk at all times. On Midnight Voyageur. Mike runs a tight ship, cuts no corners, and is deeply committed to providing a safe and rewarding passage.

Make Lifelong Memories & Friendships

We never know exactly how each passage will unfold. However, it’s almost certain that you will come away from one of these expeditions with new insights, experiences, friends, and wonderful memories.

Reviews from Crew Members

  • “Sailing the Irish coast with Mike was a very special experience for my 16-year old son and I. Mike is an experienced, conscientiousness, and extremely competent sailor—everything flows from that. He is also a generous host and mindful of everyone’s experience. We loved having tasks, responsibilities, and being able to contribute as crew members. Every second was its own wonderful moment—being under sail, exploring ports, evenings in pubs, small talk over coffee, extended time with family and friends. Living on Midnight Voyageur, and, of course, Ireland was awesome. ‘Wonder why we ever go home (Buffett)’”

  • "It's been one of my life's greatest adventures to sail with Mike Foley over the last 5 years. Mike is a very skilled captain, both in matters of sailing and steering the great ship of this mystery called life. The skills I develop through his coaching on the sailboat serve me daily in my profession as a diplomat where I often apply the nautical principles of patience, observance, prespective, surrender and razor sharp action when needed. In addition, the sail trips are a perfect blend of unbounded joy, good humor and access to the truest luxury available on this planet - wilderness!

  • “I’ve been fortunate enough to join Cap'n Mike on two of his ocean sailing adventures and made some incredible lifetime memories. We crossed the North Atlantic to the Azores and sailed the southwest coast of Ireland. My fellow crew members came from varied backgrounds including an artist, airline pilot, and a university professor; the eclectic mix of the crew certainly made for some fun conversations. Mike's 40ft sailboat, Midnight Voyageur, is very well-equipped with safety being the top priority. I look forward to sailing again with Professional Mariner, Cap'n Mike.”

  • “Sailing with Captain Mike in the San Juan Islands, Southern California, Mexico, Lake Superior and Portugal has been one of the great joys of my life. Mike’s first priority is always safety for all on board, followed closely by ensuring fun while taking in the beauty of this world. And Mike is a master at helping everyone on board, regardless of one’s limited sailing experience, be an important and capable crew member during every sailing adventure. What a gift Mike is!!”

  • “We had the opportunity to join one of Captain Mike’s week-long sailing adventures in Guadeloupe. We had the best time ever in this tropical paradise! Mike's seamanship and leadership skills were totally reassuring. We were on a beautiful yacht with a private cabin and felt secure and comfortable the entire trip. We also found time to participate as crew, explore exotic landfalls, and best of all – relax! Our advice? Don't pass up an opportunity to sail with Captain Mike."

  • “We’ve been lucky enough to sail with Captain Mike twice now and have had the time of our lives. Mike is confident, organized and always puts safety first, and yet, the fun never stops! Whether you’re a first timer or an experienced sailor, you will thoroughly enjoy being part of Mike’s crew.”

  • “I’ve sailed with Captain Mike on passages that include Bermuda, Ireland, Scotland and New England. He’s a dedicated professional Captain that always places safety and crew first. Midnight Voyageur is a worthy blue water vessel and Mike has her rigged for all weather sailing. Where are we going next?”

    Marc Elia

  • "Thanks to Captain Mike for the numerous sailing expeditions that I have been part of including Panama, Mexico, Caribbean, Bermuda, Martha’s Vineyard, Maine and Lake Superior.  We always end up sharing lots of laughs and stories along the way. If you ever want to embark on a true sailing adventure and create an amazing memory, jump on one of Mike’s voyages."

  • “I had little sailing experience prior to joining Cap’n Mike on a trip up to the Isle of Skye in Scotland. When you sail with Mike, you’re part of the crew and you learn a lot about sailing while having wonderful conversations. The Midnight Voyageur is a beautiful boat and I had an uplifting, memorable experience aboard her.”
