Meet Captain Mike Foley
Captain Mike Foley has had a passion for sailing ever since childhood when he would spend endless summer days on his Sunfish sailboat dreaming of crossing oceans some day.
Thirty years ago, Mike got his start in outdoor wilderness education by leading backpacking trips for Outward Bound. Over the past twenty years, he has focused on leading sailing expeditions for family, friends and clients to locations that include the Great Lakes, San Juan Islands, British Columbia, Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Caribbean, Bermuda, Ireland, Scotland, the Eastern Seaboard from Key West to Maine, and an Atlantic crossing. 2025 will include some tropical island hopping in the Grenadines and then back up north to the Scottish Hebrides, Faroe and Shetland Islands, Norwegian Fjords, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain and Portugal.
Mike holds a 50 Ton USCG Captain’s License, a Wilderness First Responder Certificate, and has logged 37,000+ nautical miles. When ashore in Chicago, he teaches communication classes as a consultant at his firm, Clarity Central, and as a Clinical Professor at Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
