What to Expect

Our sailing voyages range from deep ocean passages to island hopping day trips. Regardless of the level of difficulty, in order to ensure a positive experience for all, you can count on the following:

Preparation

You will receive detailed instructions on what items you’ll need to bring in order to maximize your level of comfort onboard. Over the years, we have found that preparation is the key to a positive and rewarding experience at sea.

Gaudeloupe

Safety

Upon arrival, you will take a tour of the vessel and be briefed on all its safety equipment, liferaft, and satellite electronics. To ensure a safe and enjoyable passage, we will also review crew expectations, watch schedules, and then take the time to drill on all safety procedures and protocols.

Seamanship

Once underway, you’ll have endless opportunities to put sailing theory into practice. All experience levels are welcome on Midnight Voyageur! Our voyages are “full participation” in nature and each crew member will have an opportunity to take part in everything that keeps the boat operating smoothly: route planning, meal preparation, weather routing, boat handling, navigation, satellite communications, safety procedures, and more.

A “by God I know I’m alive” Experience

Our voyages range from one to three weeks with a variety of experiences from tropical island hopping, to picturesque coastal cruising, to challenging blue water passage making. No matter the weather and sea conditions, we will always be on the watch for mother nature at her best: breathtaking sunsets, whale sightings, dolphins playing off the bow, a magical light show of bioluminescence in our wake, standing midnight watch under a canopy of a billion stars, all while settling into the peace and pace of life at sea.

“Sailing for me isn’t mere recreation - it’s religion.  I see God’s face in each puffy cloud; discover His reflection in each ocean spray.  I hear His whispers in the wind; His laughter in a sea gull’s cry.  Mother Ocean is my cathedral.  Sometimes at sea I discover I’m holding my breath – just wondering if life could possibly be this good, this real, this true.  I’ve happily spent my entire life chasing the horizon in search of such random moments – and I’ve found them more often than most.”

-Cap’n Fatty Goodlander, Chasing the Horizon
